Automatic SSL certificates for websites running on Windows Server IIS

IIS AutoSSL Manager by DataHouse.pl

IIS AutoSSL Manager by DataHouse.net is an application for Windows Server administrators who manage SSL certificates for domains configured in IIS. The program reads IIS websites, displays current certificate status and allows you to issue or renew a certificate for a selected domain.

The application includes a graphical management panel and a Windows Service that can automatically renew certificates before they expire.

Available SSL Certificate Providers

Let's Encrypt
The application supports free Let's Encrypt SSL certificates. It is a convenient option for websites, admin panels and IIS-hosted services that need HTTPS without manual certificate handling.

ZeroSSL
IIS AutoSSL Manager also supports ZeroSSL certificates. Enter your ZeroSSL API key in the application settings and use ZeroSSL for issuing and renewing certificates for domains on the server.

Key Features

  • Automatic detection of IIS websites and configured domains.
  • Current SSL certificate status overview.
  • Support for Let's Encrypt and ZeroSSL certificates.
  • One-click certificate issuing for a selected domain.
  • Support for the main domain and the www variant.
  • Checks whether the domain points to the correct server.
  • Automatic certificate assignment to the IIS HTTPS binding.
  • Windows Service for automatic certificate renewal.
  • Service status display with start and stop control.

  • Readable error messages for faster troubleshooting.

Installation Instructions
1. Download the MSI Installer

Download the latest IIS AutoSSL Manager by DataHouse.net MSI package and run it directly on the Windows Server where IIS is installed.

2. Run the Installer as Administrator
Administrator privileges are required because the application stores certificates in the Windows machine certificate store, configures IIS domain bindings and installs the Windows Service responsible for automatic renewal.

3. Complete the Installation Wizard
After installation, the server will have both the desktop application and the background service available. The installation package includes the required application components, so no additional runtime has to be installed manually.

4. Start the Application
Open IIS AutoSSL Manager from the Start Menu or the shortcut created by the installer. Running the application with administrator privileges is recommended for full IIS and certificate management.

Usage Instructions
1. Refresh the Domain List

After launching the application, refresh the list. The application reads IIS websites and displays domains assigned to HTTP and HTTPS bindings.

2. Check Certificate Status
The domain list shows whether the certificate is valid, when it expires and whether the domain is ready for certificate issuing or renewal.

3. Select the Certificate Provider
For the selected domain, choose either Let's Encrypt or ZeroSSL. If you use ZeroSSL, enter the API key in the application settings first.

4. Issue the Certificate
Click “Issue certificate now”. The application checks the domain configuration, obtains the certificate from the selected provider and assigns it to the correct IIS website.

5. Enable Automatic Renewal
Enable “Autorenew” to let the Windows Service renew the certificate automatically before expiration. The service status is visible in the application: green means running, red means stopped or unavailable.

Automatic Certificate Renewal
The built-in Windows Service can renew certificates automatically 3 days before they expire. This helps administrators avoid tracking expiration dates manually for each individual certificate.

If a renewal problem occurs, the application displays a readable error message with the reason, making it easier to correct the domain or server configuration.

Technical Requirements

  • Windows Server with the IIS role installed.
  • Administrator privileges on the server.
  • A public domain pointing to the server IP address.
  • HTTP port 80 available for domains that need certificates.
  • Correct IIS domain bindings.
  • ZeroSSL API key if certificates should be issued through ZeroSSL.
